Brent Ashdown (Vocals/Guitar) and Simon Moore (Guitar/Keyboard) making some fantastic music. Brent studied in Plymouth and is now living closer to London. The band is planning an EP release shortly, and we reckon they are probably one of the best bands we've played on the Plymcast.

As played in Podcast 10!

Plymouth band AlBenAza describe themselves as a rock/roots/acoustic trio.
As a band they play a mixture of rock, reggae and acoustic ditties, all layered with tight vocal harmonies. All three are guitar-playing singer-songwriters, so there's no one lead singer - Al, Ben and Aza take turns as front man while the others provide the rhythm section.

Kapow

If you have yet to watch the comedic sketchings of Ross & Andrew aka Kapow you're missing out on a surreal, gore filled, treat.

The comedy shorts, filmed in an around the local area have a whiff of Spaced, mixed with a little 80's cop action and seasoned with some Hammer Horror.

We caught up with the guys recently, we had lots of questions - luckily the chaps had a lot of answers;

How did you both meet?

I was at school and Andrew got kicked out of the lap dancing course he had joined the previous August. Sounds crazy, but it is absolutely the truth. We both shared a love of Dan Cake and quality video games, and when we were made to work together on a Theatre Studies project, we were at first bitter rivals, but eventually came to become the greatest of companions.

What inspired you to create KAPOW?

Well, originally, after we had overcome our bitter rivalry, we just wanted to make a sketch-based thing. But, that didn't really go anywhere. And then, one night, I was watching television and happened upon an advert for a little machine that printed off address labels, and one of the names was something like "Ross Andrews". It then hit me. I sent a message to Andrew right away, and within a short 2 years or so we were well on our way to making the first episode.

Which comedy performers/writer/directors have influenced your work?

We look to our lives for inspiration. But, more specifically, we just ripped off a bunch of alternative comedy shows. We got compared to Spaced and Green Wing in Digital Video Magazine. Green Wing... not so much. But Spaced is a big influence.

How many people are involved in producing the KAPOW series?

Just about every episode is made with only myself and Andrew. We had some special parts for people in The Super Glue Fiend, but apart from that, it's Ross and Andrew all over the shop. Actually [OVERTLY OBVIOUS PLUG], you can catch the full 31 minute version of The Super Glue Fiend on our web site at www.rossandandrew.co.uk.

Who would win in a fight between Jim Rockford and Magnum PI?

Well, to answer this, we must take into account weaponry and terrain. On a clearly flat surface, with machetes, Magnum. On something a little more varied, such as a work site or country garden, with glass daggers, there can be only one. Jim Rockford.

Are you "into" the local music scene?

Absolutely. And, at the moment, the best band around is Rebuild The Doxa. Actually, their hit song - "Snail Shell Full of Slugs" - was written specifically FOR The Super Glue Fiend's end credit sequence.

Where would you like to see yourselves in 5 years time?

Alive, with a wealth of jewellery and a butler.
